RNF39
Description
The RNF39 (ring finger protein 39) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 6.
RING finger protein 39 is a protein produced by the RNF39 gene in humans. This gene resides within the major histocompatibility complex class I region on chromosome 6. Research on a comparable rat protein suggests that this gene encodes a protein that contributes to an early stage of synaptic plasticity. Alternative splicing creates three distinct transcript variants, each encoding a different protein isoform.
Potentially involved in the long-term maintenance of synaptic strengthening (long-term potentiation, LTP).
RNF39 is also known as FAP216, HZF, HZFW, LIRF.
