RNF19A

Description

The RNF19A (ring finger protein 19A, RBR E3 ubiquitin protein ligase) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 8.

RNF19A is an enzyme encoded by the RNF19A gene in humans. This protein has two RING-finger motifs and an IBR motif, making it an E3 ubiquitin ligase. It's found in Lewy bodies, neuronal inclusions associated with Parkinson's disease. RNF19A interacts with UBE2L3/UBCH7 and UBE2E2/UBCH8, and it binds and ubiquitinates synphilin 1 (SNCAIP), which is an interaction partner of alpha-synuclein in neurons and a major component of Lewy bodies. Alternative splicing can produce transcript variants that encode the same protein.

RNF19A is also known as RNF19.
