RMDN3

Description

The RMDN3 (regulator of microtubule dynamics 3) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 15.

RMDN3, also known as PTPIP51, is a protein encoded by the RMDN3 gene on chromosome 15. It is involved in several cellular processes, including differentiation, proliferation, motility, cytoskeleton formation, and apoptosis. RMDN3 contains two conserved domains (CR1 and CR2) that bind to 14-3-3 proteins, and two tyrosine residues (Y53 and Y158) that are phosphorylation sites for various kinases. It also has a mitochondrial targeting sequence at its N-terminal that induces apoptosis, although some splicing variants lack this sequence. RMDN3 localizes to the outer mitochondrial membrane, cytoplasm, and nucleus. Its roles in cellular processes contribute to mammalian development, such as placental villi formation and angiogenesis.

RMDN3 is also known as FAM82A2, FAM82C, RMD-3, RMD3, ptpip51.
