RILPL1

Description

The RILPL1 (Rab interacting lysosomal protein like 1) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 12.

RILPL1 plays a role in regulating cell shape and polarity, as well as in cellular protein transport, including the transport of proteins away from primary cilia. It acts as a neuroprotective protein by sequestering GAPDH in the cytosol, preventing its apoptotic function in the nucleus. RILPL1 competes with SIAH1 for binding to GAPDH. It does not regulate lysosomal morphology or distribution. RILPL1 binds to RAB10 following LRRK2-mediated phosphorylation of RAB10, leading to the inhibition of ciliogenesis.

RILPL1 is also known as GOSPEL, OPDM4, RLP1.
