REEP4
Description
The REEP4 (receptor accessory protein 4) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 8.
REEP4 is a microtubule-binding protein that plays a crucial role in proper cell division and the reassembly of the nuclear envelope. During mitosis, REEP4 ensures that the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) is kept away from chromosomes by sequestering it. This is likely achieved by clearing the ER membrane from metaphase chromosomes.
REEP4 is also known as C8orf20, PP432, Yip2c.
