RCN1

Description

The RCN1 (reticulocalbin 1) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 11.

RCN1 encodes Reticulocalbin-1, a protein residing in the ER lumen. This protein binds calcium through six EF-hand motifs. Despite high sequence similarity to mouse Reticulocalbin, RCN1 exhibits additional conserved regions, suggesting potential roles beyond calcium binding.

RCN1 is also known as HEL-S-84, PIG20, RCAL, RCN.
