RBSN

Description

The RBSN (rabenosyn, RAB effector) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 3.

RBSN (Rabenosyn-5) plays a crucial role in early endocytic membrane fusion and trafficking of recycling endosomes. It facilitates both homotypic fusion of endosomes and fusion with clathrin-coated vesicles. RBSN is involved in lysosomal trafficking of cathepsin D from the Golgi to lysosomes, and promotes direct recycling of transferrin from early endosomes to the plasma membrane. It binds to phospholipid vesicles containing phosphatidylinositol 3-phosphate (PtdInsP3), and contributes to recycling of the transferrin receptor to the plasma membrane.

RBSN is also known as Rabenosyn-5, ZFYVE20.
