RBM39

Description

The RBM39 (RNA binding motif protein 39) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 20.

RBM39 is a human gene that encodes an RNA-binding protein, possibly a splicing factor. The protein is located in the nucleus where it colocalizes with core spliceosomal proteins. Studies of a similar mouse protein suggest that RBM39 may act as a transcriptional coactivator for JUN/AP-1 and estrogen receptors. The gene produces multiple transcript variants, each encoding different protein isoforms.

RBM39 is an RNA-binding protein that functions as a pre-mRNA splicing factor, promoting exon inclusion through the regulation of exon cassette splicing. It also acts as a transcriptional coactivator for steroid nuclear receptors ESR1/ER-alpha and ESR2/ER-beta, and JUN/AP-1, independent of its splicing factor activity.

RBM39 is also known as CAPER, CAPERalpha, FSAP59, HCC1, RNPC2.
