RAET1E

Description

The RAET1E (retinoic acid early transcript 1E) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 6.

RAET1E is a cell surface glycoprotein encoded by the RAET1E gene located on chromosome 6. It is related to MHC class I molecules but is found outside the MHC locus. RAET1E consists of an external α1α2 domain, a transmembrane segment, and a C-terminal cytoplasmic tail. It functions as a stress-induced ligand for the NKG2D receptor.

RAET1E binds and activates the KLRK1/NKG2D receptor, triggering natural killer cell cytotoxicity.

RAET1E is also known as LETAL, N2DL-4, NKG2DL4, RAET1E2, RL-4, ULBP4, bA350J20.7.
