RAB11FIP5
Description
The RAB11FIP5 (RAB11 family interacting protein 5) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 2.
RAB11FIP5 is a protein encoded by the RAB11FIP5 gene in humans. It interacts with RAB11A and RAB25. RAB11FIP5 is one of many proteins that interact with the Rab11 protein, which is involved in vesicular trafficking. Specifically, Rab11 plays a key role in endocytic trafficking and recycling by guiding early endosomes to endosome recycling complexes. Like other Rab11FIP proteins, RAB11FIP5 acts as an adaptor protein that interacts with Rab11, leading to changes in protein interactions and the coordination and organization of endosomal transport. This ultimately contributes to Rab11's versatile function in the cell. It is believed that Rab11 recruits specific Rab11FIP proteins to the surface of vesicles to determine their behavior.
RAB11FIP5 is also known as GAF1, RIP11, gaf-1, pp75, rab11-FIP5.
