PTPRG

Description

The PTPRG (protein tyrosine phosphatase receptor type G) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 3.

Receptor-type tyrosine-protein phosphatase gamma is an enzyme encoded by the PTPRG gene in humans. It belongs to the protein tyrosine phosphatase (PTP) family, which are signaling molecules involved in regulating cellular processes like growth, differentiation, cell cycle, and tumor formation. PTPRG has an extracellular region, a transmembrane region, and two catalytic domains, classifying it as a receptor-type PTP. Its extracellular region contains a carbonic anhydrase-like (CAH) domain, also found in PTPRBETA/ZETA. The PTPRG gene resides in a chromosome region frequently deleted in renal and lung cancers, suggesting its potential role as a tumor suppressor gene.

PTPRG is also known as HPTPG, PTPG, R-PTP-GAMMA, RPTPG.
