PTPN18
Description
The PTPN18 (protein tyrosine phosphatase non-receptor type 18) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 2.
PTPN18, also known as Tyrosine-protein phosphatase non-receptor type 18, is an enzyme encoded by the PTPN18 gene in humans. It belongs to the protein tyrosine phosphatase (PTP) family, which are signaling molecules involved in cell growth, differentiation, mitotic cycle, and oncogenic transformation. PTPN18 contains a PEST motif, potentially related to protein-protein interactions and half-life. Expression is found in brain, colon tissues, and tumor-derived cell lines. While its exact biological function remains unclear, PTPN18 has been shown to interact with PSTPIP1.
PTPN18 is also known as BDP1, PTP-HSCF.
