PTBP3

Description

The PTBP3 (polypyrimidine tract binding protein 3) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 9.

PTBP3 is an RNA-binding protein that regulates pre-mRNA alternative splicing. It plays a role in cell proliferation, differentiation, and migration. PTBP3 is a positive regulator of EPO-dependent erythropoiesis. It also participates in cell differentiation regulation by repressing tissue-specific exons. PTBP3 promotes FAS exon 6 skipping. It binds RNA, preferentially to both poly(G) and poly(U).

PTBP3 is also known as ROD1.
