PSRC1

Description

The PSRC1 (proline and serine rich coiled-coil 1) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 1.

PSRC1 is a gene that produces a protein rich in proline. This protein is involved in controlling cell growth, particularly during cell division (mitosis). The related gene in mice suggests that PSRC1 may be regulated by the p53 protein, which is known for its role in preventing cancer. Different versions of the PSRC1 protein are produced depending on how the gene is read.

PSRC1 is essential for proper mitotic progression. It ensures chromosomes correctly align at the metaphase plate and segregate at the appropriate rate during anaphase. PSRC1 contributes to spindle dynamics by accelerating microtubule turnover on metaphase spindles and establishing normal tension between sister kinetochores. It facilitates the recruitment of KIF2A and ANKRD53 to the mitotic spindle and spindle poles. Evidence suggests a potential role of PSRC1 in p53/TP53-mediated growth suppression.

PSRC1 is also known as DDA3, FP3214.
