PRR16

Description

The PRR16 (proline rich 16) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 5.

PRR16 is a protein-coding gene located on the long arm of chromosome 5 at position 5q23.1. It spans 330,365 bases and encodes a 1,707 nucleotide mRNA, resulting in a protein of 304 amino acids. PRR16 has five known splice variants, each with a unique processed transcript.

PRR16 is a regulator of cell size, promoting an increase in cell size independent of mTOR and Hippo signaling pathways. It achieves this by stimulating the translation of specific mRNAs, including those encoding proteins that influence mitochondrial function. This leads to an increase in mitochondrial mass and respiration.

PRR16 is also known as DSC54, LARGEN.
