PRMT9

Description

The PRMT9 (protein arginine methyltransferase 9) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 4.

PRMT9 is an arginine methyltransferase that can catalyze the formation of both omega-N monomethylarginine (MMA) and symmetrical dimethylarginine (sDMA). It specifically mediates the symmetrical dimethylation of SF3B2, a protein involved in the regulation of alternative splicing of pre-mRNA. This suggests that PRMT9 plays a role in regulating gene expression by influencing alternative splicing.

PRMT9 is also known as PRMT10.
