PRG3

Description

The PRG3 (proteoglycan 3, pro eosinophil major basic protein 2) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 11.

PRG3 exhibits cytotoxic and cytostimulatory properties comparable to PRG2/MBP. In laboratory settings, it triggers the production of superoxide by neutrophils, the release of IL8 from neutrophils, and the release of histamine and leukotriene C4 from basophils.

PRG3 is also known as MBP2, MBPH.
