PRB3

Description

The PRB3 (proline rich protein BstNI subfamily 3) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 12.

PRB3 is a human gene that encodes a proline-rich salivary protein. This protein is a major component of parotid saliva and is believed to act as a receptor for bacteria. PRB3 is part of a cluster of genes on chromosome 12p13 that encode salivary proline-rich proteins (PRPs) and a lacrimal gland PRP.

PRB3 acts as a receptor for the Gram-negative bacterium F.nucleatum.

PRB3 is also known as G1, PRG.
