PPP2R1B
Description
The PPP2R1B gene, encodes a protein subunit of protein phosphatase 2A (PP2A), a ubiquitous serine/threonine phosphatase involved in diverse cellular processes. PP2A, a heterotrimeric complex, comprises a catalytic subunit (PP2Ac), a structural subunit (PP2A-A), and a regulatory subunit (PP2A-B). PPP2R1B encodes one of the regulatory B subunits, specifically the B56δ subunit. This subunit plays a critical role in regulating PP2A‘s activity and substrate specificity, contributing to the phosphatase‘s involvement in various cellular processes including signal transduction, cell growth, and cell cycle regulation.
