PMVK

Description

The PMVK (phosphomevalonate kinase) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 1.

PMVK catalyzes the reversible phosphorylation of mevalonate 5-phosphate to mevalonate diphosphate and ADP using ATP. This reaction is crucial in the mevalonic acid pathway, which produces isopentenyl diphosphate and other polyisoprenoid metabolites.

PMVK is also known as HUMPMKI, PMK, PMKA, PMKASE, POROK1.
