PLXNC1

Description

The PLXNC1 (plexin C1) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 12.

PLXNC1 acts as a receptor for various semaphorins, including SEMA7A, smallpox semaphorin A39R, vaccinia virus semaphorin A39R, and herpesvirus Sema protein. Upon semaphorin binding, PLXNC1 initiates cellular responses, such as cytoskeletal rearrangement and the release of cytokines IL6 and IL8.

PLXNC1 is also known as CD232, PLXN-C1, VESPR.
