PLXNA4

Description

The PLXNA4 (plexin A4) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 7.

PLXNA4 is a coreceptor for SEMA3A. It is essential for signaling by class 3 semaphorins, leading to cytoskeletal remodeling. This protein plays a role in axon guidance during nervous system development. Class 3 semaphorins bind to a complex formed by a neuropilin and a plexin. PLXNA4 modulates the affinity of this complex for specific semaphorins. Its cytoplasmic domain is required for activating downstream signaling events in the cytoplasm.

PLXNA4 is also known as FAYV2820, PLEXA4, PLXNA4A, PLXNA4B, PRO34003.
