PLXNA1

Description

The PLXNA1 (plexin A1) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 3.

Plexin-A1 is a protein that in humans is encoded by the PLXNA1 gene. Plexin A1 has been shown to interact with AKT1.

Plexin-A1 acts as a coreceptor for semaphorins 3A, 3C, 3F, and 6D. It is essential for signaling by class 3 semaphorins and subsequent cytoskeleton reorganization. This protein plays a crucial role in axon guidance, invasive growth, and cell migration. Class 3 semaphorins bind to a complex formed by neuropilin and plexin. Plexin modifies the complex's affinity for specific semaphorins, and its cytoplasmic domain is necessary for activating downstream signaling events within the cytoplasm.

PLXNA1 is also known as DWOPNED, NOV, NOVP, PLEXIN-A1, PLXN1.
