PLEKHM3

Description

The PLEKHM3 (pleckstrin homology domain containing M3) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 2.

PLEKHM3, also known as DAPR (Differentiation associated protein), and Pleckstrin Homology Domain Containing Family M, Member 1-like, is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 2, specifically on the q-arm at position 2q33.3. The gene spans 24.3 kilobases and comprises 8 exons. PLEKHM3 is transcribed into a mRNA molecule of 9,807 base pairs. This gene produces a protein with a Pleckstrin Homology domain and a C-terminal Rubicon Homology (RH) domain. The RH domain is a conserved feature in PLEKHM3 homologs across various species, even as distant as the Nile Tilapia. RH domains in other proteins, such as Rubicon and PLEKHM1, have been shown to facilitate interactions with the small GTPase Rab7.

PLEKHM3 plays a role in the development of skeletal muscle. It is believed to act as a platform for AKT1, a protein involved in muscle cell development, during muscle differentiation.

PLEKHM3 is also known as DAPR, PLEKHM1L.
