PLCH2

Description

The PLCH2 (phospholipase C eta 2) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 1.

PLCH2, also known as Phosphoinositide phospholipase C-eta-2, plays a crucial role in producing the signaling molecules diacylglycerol (DAG) and inositol 1,4,5-trisphosphate (IP3). This process is facilitated by activated phosphatidylinositol-specific phospholipase C enzymes, which are particularly sensitive to calcium. Evidence suggests that PLCH2 may be critical for the development and upkeep of neuronal networks in the brain after birth.

PLCH2 is also known as PLC-L4, PLC-eta2, PLCL4, PLCeta2.
