PKNOX2

Description

The PKNOX2 (PBX/knotted 1 homeobox 2) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 11.

PKNOX2 protein, encoded by the PKNOX2 gene in humans, belongs to the TALE (three amino acid loop extension) class of homeodomain proteins. It plays a crucial role in regulating the transcription of other genes, influencing anatomical development. PKNOX2 binds to specific DNA sequences, acting as a nuclear transcription factor that controls the transfer of genetic information from DNA to mRNA. Beyond transcription regulation, PKNOX2 also interacts with actin filaments. An important related gene is PKNOX1.

PKNOX2 is also known as PREP2.
