PIDD1

Description

The PIDD1 (p53-induced death domain protein 1) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 11.

PIDD1 is part of the DNA damage/stress response pathway, operating downstream of p53/TP53. It can either promote cell survival or apoptosis. PIDD1 forms the PIDDosome complex with CRADD and CASP2, which activates CASP2 and triggers apoptosis. PIDD1 also associates with IKBKG and RIPK1, enhancing sumoylation and ubiquitination of IKBKG, a process crucial for activating the transcription factor NF-kappa-B.

PIDD1 is also known as LRDD, MRT75, PIDD.
