PECR

Description

The PECR (peroxisomal trans-2-enoyl-CoA reductase) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 2.

The PECR gene in humans encodes for the enzyme peroxisomal trans-2-enoyl-CoA reductase.

PECR participates in the chain elongation of fatty acids. It catalyzes the reduction of trans-2-enoyl-CoAs of varying chain lengths, ranging from 6:1 to 16:1, with maximum activity observed at 10:1 CoA. However, it lacks 2,4-dienoyl-CoA reductase activity.

PECR is also known as DCRRP, HPDHASE, HSA250303, PVIARL, SDR29C1, TERP.
