PEBP1
Description
The PEBP1 (phosphatidylethanolamine binding protein 1) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 12.
Phosphatidylethanolamine-binding protein 1 is a protein that in humans is encoded by the PEBP1 gene. PEBP1 has been shown to interact with C-Raf, MAP2K1, and MAPK1.
PEBP1 binds to ATP, opioids, and phosphatidylethanolamine. It has a lower affinity for phosphatidylinositol and phosphatidylcholine. It acts as a serine protease inhibitor, blocking the activity of thrombin, neuropsin, and chymotrypsin. However, it does not inhibit trypsin, tissue plasminogen activator, or elastase. PEBP1 inhibits the kinase activity of RAF1 by preventing its activation and disrupting the RAF1/MEK complex. It acts as a competitive inhibitor of MEK phosphorylation.
