PCDHB3

Description

The PCDHB3 (protocadherin beta 3) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 5.

Protocadherin beta-3 is a protein encoded by the PCDHB3 gene in humans. It's part of the protocadherin beta gene cluster, one of three linked clusters on chromosome five. This cluster has 16 genes and 3 pseudogenes, each encoding 6 extracellular cadherin domains. These domains interact to create specific cell-cell connections. Unlike other clusters, the PCDHB3 gene has one large exon, not sharing common 3' exons. This neural cadherin-like protein is found in the cell membrane. Its specific functions are unknown but it's likely involved in neural connections.

PCDHB3 is also known as PCDH-BETA3.
