PCBP3

Description

The PCBP3 (poly(rC) binding protein 3) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 21.

PCBP3 is a protein encoded by the PCBP3 gene in humans. It belongs to the KH domain protein subfamily, also known as alpha-CPs, which bind to RNA with a preference for C-rich pyrimidine regions. Alpha-CPs play a role in post-transcriptional processes and have varying cellular locations. PCBP3 is found in the cytoplasm, unlike other subfamily members that have nuclear localization signals. The PCBP3 gene has multiple polyadenylation sites.

PCBP3 is a protein that preferentially binds to single-stranded nucleic acids, particularly oligo dC.

PCBP3 is also known as ALPHA-CP3, PCBP3-OT1, PCBP3OT.
