P2RX6

Description

The P2RX6 (purinergic receptor P2X 6) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 22.

P2X purinoceptor 6 is a protein encoded by the P2RX6 gene in humans. It belongs to the P2X receptor family, which are ATP-gated ion channels that allow rapid and selective passage of cations. This gene is mainly expressed in skeletal muscle and is regulated by p53. The protein interacts with VE-cadherin at the adherens junctions of human umbilical vein endothelial cells.

P2RX6 acts as a ligand-gated ion channel, responding to ATP.

P2RX6 is also known as P2RXL1, P2X6, P2XM.
