OXCT2

Description

The OXCT2 (3-oxoacid CoA-transferase 2) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 1.

OXCT2 is a critical enzyme involved in ketone body metabolism. It facilitates the transfer of the CoA group from succinate to acetoacetate. This process involves the formation of an unstable anhydride intermediate between the enzyme's carboxylate groups and the substrate.

OXCT2 is also known as FKSG25, SCOTT.
