Description
Oxcarbazepine is an anticonvulsant medication primarily used to treat partial seizures in adults and children. It belongs to the iminostilbene class of drugs and is chemically similar to carbamazepine. Oxcarbazepine is typically well-tolerated, with common side effects including dizziness, drowsiness, and nausea. It works by reducing the excessive electrical activity in the brain that causes seizures. Oxcarbazepine is available in both immediate-release and extended-release formulations, allowing for flexible dosing schedules.
