OR5AC2

Description

The OR5AC2 (olfactory receptor family 5 subfamily AC member 2) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 3.

The OR5AC2 gene encodes for a protein called olfactory receptor 5AC2. This protein is involved in the sense of smell. It interacts with odorant molecules in the nose, triggering a neuronal response that leads to the perception of a smell. OR5AC2 belongs to a large family of G-protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs) that are responsible for recognizing and transducing odorant signals. The olfactory receptor gene family is the largest in the human genome.

Odorant receptor.

OR5AC2 is also known as HSA1.
