OR52N4

Description

The OR52N4 (olfactory receptor family 52 subfamily N member 4) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 11.

OR52N4 is a human gene encoding the olfactory receptor 52N4 protein. This protein interacts with odorant molecules in the nose, initiating a neuronal response that leads to the perception of smell. Olfactory receptors are a large family of G-protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs), each encoded by a single coding-exon gene. They share a 7-transmembrane domain structure with many neurotransmitter and hormone receptors, and are responsible for recognizing odorant signals and transducing them via G proteins. The olfactory receptor gene family is the largest in the human genome, with a unique nomenclature system.

Odorant receptor.

OR52N4 is also known as OR11-64.
