OR52B4

Description

The OR52B4 (olfactory receptor family 52 subfamily B member 4) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 11.

Olfactory receptor 52B4 is a protein in humans encoded by the OR52B4 gene. It plays a role in smell perception by interacting with odorant molecules in the nose, initiating a neuronal response. This receptor is a member of the large family of G-protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs) and shares a 7-transmembrane domain structure with many neurotransmitter and hormone receptors. It is responsible for recognizing odorant signals and transducing them via G proteins. The olfactory receptor gene family is the largest in the genome, with a unique nomenclature for this organism.

Odorant receptor.

OR52B4 is also known as OR11-3.
