OR4N4

Description

The OR4N4 (olfactory receptor family 4 subfamily N member 4) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 15.

OR4N4 is a human gene encoding a protein known as olfactory receptor 4N4. This protein, along with other olfactory receptors, plays a role in smell perception. These receptors bind to odorant molecules in the nose, triggering a signal that is transmitted to the brain. OR4N4 is a member of the large G-protein-coupled receptor (GPCR) family, all of which share a seven-transmembrane domain structure. This gene family is the largest in the human genome.

Odorant receptor.

OR4N4 is also known as OR15-1, OR15-5.
