OR4A16

Description

The OR4A16 (olfactory receptor family 4 subfamily A member 16) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 11.

The OR4A16 gene encodes a protein called olfactory receptor 4A16, which plays a crucial role in our sense of smell. These receptors interact with odorant molecules in the nose, triggering a neuronal response that leads to the perception of a smell. Olfactory receptors belong to a large family of G-protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs) and are responsible for recognizing and transmitting odorant signals via G proteins. The OR4A16 gene is part of the olfactory receptor gene family, which is the largest in the human genome.

Odorant receptor.

OR4A16 is also known as OR11-117, OR4A16Q.
