OR2T8

Description

The OR2T8 (olfactory receptor family 2 subfamily T member 8) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 1.

OR2T8, also known as olfactory receptor 2T8, is a protein that in humans is encoded by the OR2T8 gene. This gene belongs to the large family of olfactory receptor genes. The olfactory receptor proteins are members of the G protein-coupled receptor superfamily, the largest family of genes in the human genome. Olfactory receptors are responsible for the detection of odorants in the environment. They are expressed in the olfactory epithelium, a specialized tissue located in the nose. Upon binding to an odorant, olfactory receptors trigger a signal transduction cascade that ultimately leads to the perception of smell.

This receptor is involved in the detection of odors.

OR2T8 is also known as OR2T8P.
