OR2H1

Description

The OR2H1 (olfactory receptor family 2 subfamily H member 1) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 6.

Olfactory receptor 2H1 is a protein encoded by the OR2H1 gene in humans. It interacts with odorant molecules in the nose, triggering a neuronal response that leads to the perception of smell. This protein is a member of the large family of G-protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs) and shares a 7-transmembrane domain structure with many neurotransmitter and hormone receptors. It plays a crucial role in recognizing and transducing odorant signals through G protein-mediated pathways. The olfactory receptor gene family is the largest in the human genome, and the nomenclature assigned to these genes and proteins is independent of other organisms.

Odorant receptor.
