OR2AG1

Description

The OR2AG1 (olfactory receptor family 2 subfamily AG member 1) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 11.

OR2AG1 is a human gene that encodes the olfactory receptor 2AG1 protein. Olfactory receptors are involved in smelling by interacting with odorant molecules in the nose, triggering a neuronal response. They belong to a large family of G-protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs) and share a 7-transmembrane domain structure with many neurotransmitter and hormone receptors. This family is the largest in the genome, and the nomenclature for olfactory receptor genes and proteins is independent across species. Amyl butyrate is a known ligand for this receptor.

Odorant receptor.

OR2AG1 is also known as OR11-79, OR2AG3.
