OR13C4

Description

The OR13C4 (olfactory receptor family 13 subfamily C member 4) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 9.

Olfactory receptor 13C4 is a protein encoded by the OR13C4 gene in humans. It's part of a large family of G-protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs) involved in smell perception. These receptors interact with odorant molecules in the nose, triggering a neuronal response that leads to the sensation of smell. The olfactory receptor family is the largest in the human genome, and each member has a unique 7-transmembrane domain structure responsible for recognizing and transducing odorant signals. The nomenclature used for olfactory receptors in humans is independent of other organisms.

Odorant receptor.

OR13C4 is also known as HSHTPCRX17, HTPCRX17, OR2K1, OR37F, OR9-7.
