OR10AG1

Description

The OR10AG1 (olfactory receptor family 10 subfamily AG member 1) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 11.

Olfactory receptor 10AG1 is a protein encoded by the OR10AG1 gene in humans. It interacts with odorant molecules in the nose, initiating a neuronal response that leads to the perception of smell. Olfactory receptor proteins belong to a large family of G-protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs) derived from single coding-exon genes. They share a 7-transmembrane domain structure with many neurotransmitter and hormone receptors, responsible for recognizing and transducing odorant signals via G protein-mediated pathways. The olfactory receptor gene family is the largest in the genome. The nomenclature for olfactory receptor genes and proteins is specific to this organism.

Odorant receptor.

OR10AG1 is also known as OR11-160.
