OR10AD1

Description

The OR10AD1 (olfactory receptor family 10 subfamily AD member 1) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 12.

The OR10AD1 gene encodes the olfactory receptor 10AD1 protein, which plays a role in the sense of smell. Olfactory receptors are G-protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs) that interact with odorant molecules in the nose, initiating a neuronal response that leads to smell perception. They belong to a large family of genes, and the OR10AD1 gene is part of this family. Olfactory receptors share a seven-transmembrane domain structure, similar to many neurotransmitter and hormone receptors, and are responsible for recognizing and transmitting odorant signals through G protein-mediated transduction. The olfactory receptor gene family is the largest in the human genome.

OR10AD1 is also known as OR10AD1P, OR12-1.
