ONECUT1

Description

The ONECUT1 (one cut homeobox 1) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 15.

ONECUT1 is a protein encoded by the ONECUT1 gene in humans. It belongs to the Cut homeobox family of transcription factors. The protein is mainly expressed in the liver where it activates the transcription of liver-specific genes. It also counteracts the effects of glucocorticoids on gene expression. ONECUT1 is involved in various cellular processes, including glucose metabolism and cell cycle regulation, and may be linked to cancer. Multiple transcript variants of the gene are produced through alternative splicing.

ONECUT1 is also known as HNF-6, HNF6, HNF6A.
