OCEL1

Description

The OCEL1 (occludin/ELL domain containing 1) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 19.

OCEL1, also known as Occludin//ELL Domain Containing 1, is a gene located on chromosome 19p13.11. It is also referred to as FLJ22709, FWP009, and S863-9. While its function is currently unknown, OCEL1 belongs to a gene family associated with occludin, an enzyme found in cell tight junctions, and ELL, a transcription factor involved in RNA polymerase II activity. This gene family shares the Occludin/ELL Domain, suggesting potential roles in protein interactions. The protein encoded by OCEL1 is called Occludin/ELL Domain Containing Protein 1. It is 264 amino acids long, consists of 6 exons, and contains the ELL/Occludin Domain. It has 15 splice variations and a molecular weight of approximately 28-29 kDa.

The exact function of OCEL1 is currently unknown. However, it belongs to a family of genes related to occludin, an enzyme involved in tight junctions of cells, and ELL, a transcription factor that boosts RNA polymerase II activity. This family shares the Occludin/ELL Domain, hinting at potential involvement in protein interactions.

OCEL1 is also known as FWP009, S863-9.
