NWD1

Description

The NWD1 (NACHT and WD repeat domain containing 1) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 19.

NWD1, which stands for NACHT and WD repeat domain containing 1, is a gene found in vertebrates. Its protein product contains a NACHT domain and a WD40 repeat domain, and it was initially discovered while searching for immune system genes in zebrafish. NWD1 is related to the APAF1 gene, and its equivalents have been found in mammals. The human NWD1 gene resides on chromosome 19. Evidence suggests that NWD1 overexpression is linked to the abnormal regulation of androgen receptor signaling, possibly playing a role in the development of prostate cancer.

May contribute to the regulation of androgen receptor (AR) protein levels.
