NT5C3B

Description

The NT5C3B (5'-nucleotidase, cytosolic IIIB) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 17.

NT5C3B specifically breaks down 7-methylguanosine monophosphate (m(7)GMP) into 7-methylguanosine and inorganic phosphate. This specific activity helps protect cells from unwanted m(7)GMP recycling and its incorporation into nucleic acids. NT5C3B also has a weaker activity towards CMP, but it poorly processes UMP and purine nucleotides.

NT5C3B is also known as CNIIIL, NT5C3L, cN-IIIB.
