NT5C1A

Description

The NT5C1A (5'-nucleotidase, cytosolic IA) is a protein-coding gene located on chromosome 1.

The NT5C1A gene encodes a protein called cytosolic 5'-nucleotidase IA, which is involved in the breakdown of nucleoside monophosphates. These enzymes remove a phosphate group from nucleoside monophosphates, producing a nucleoside and inorganic phosphate.

NT5C1A catalyzes the breakdown of ribonucleotide and deoxyribonucleotide monophosphates, releasing inorganic phosphate and the corresponding nucleoside. AMP is its primary substrate, but it can also hydrolyze dCMP and IMP.

NT5C1A is also known as CN-I, CN-IA, CN1, CN1A, CNI.
